8 Ways to Beat the Heat at Your Summer Wedding

It's no surprise that summer is peak wedding season! With more couples than ever opting to have outdoor weddings, it's crucial to find fun and clever ways to beat the heat and make sure your guests have a fab time! It's the little things that are going to set your wedding a part and make your wedding truly unforgettable. Here are some of our best tips to ensure your guests love your summer wedding as much as you do!

1. Plan your ceremony near sunset

As the sun starts to set, the heat begins to subside. Plan your ceremony about an hour and a half before sunset. This will create a cooler setting and provide some gorgeous light for your wedding portraits!

2. Set out sunglasses

Have you ever showed up at summer wedding and realized you forgot your sunglasses? I've seen so many guests miserable because they accidentally left theirs at home. Make sure you have your guests covered just in case by setting out some personalized sunglasses next to the ceremony programs when they arrive!

3. Wedding programs that double as fans

Guests get HOT during the ceremony especially if their seats are positioned in the sun. Design wedding programs that also double as fans to help keep them cool as you say your  "I do's."

4. Pass out popsicles during cocktail hour

Who doesn't love popsicles?! Have the catering staff pass out popsicles to guests as they arrive at the cocktail hour. You can design a custom flavor and even print a cute saying or your wedding date on the popsicle sticks!

5. Plenty of bug spray

Make sure you have LOTS of bug spray readily available! This is especially important if you are getting married near water. Mosquitos can get very annoying especially at night, so you want to make sure your guests are protected.

6. Have a water bar

Hydrating is key especially for an outdoor summer wedding with lots of dancing involved! Having a water bar is a fun way to keep your guests hydrated and add a whimsical touch to your wedding day. Get creative with this! Have cucumber water, mint + lemon water, or even coconut water out for your guests to enjoy!

7. Flipflops

Your guests are going to want to dance! Once the alcohol has set in, tearing up the dance floor in those stilettos might not be an option. Buy a bunch of flip flops in your wedding colors in a variety of sizes so you guests can slip those on and get their freak on!

8. Ice-Cream bar

We all love cake, but at a hot summer wedding everyone's craving ice-cream! In addition to your wedding cake, have an ice-cream bar or an ice-cream truck arrive at the end of the night for your guests to enjoy!
