We're taking a break from the regularly scheduled summer garden weddings to bring you some edgy, urban vibes. If killer city skyline views and industrial yet elgant spaces are what you envision for your wedding day, you'll definitely want to look into an urban wedding venue. Check out these classic metropolitan venues that scream "Bright Lights, Big City."

Boathouse at Rocketts Landing

You may know the Boathouse for its renowned restaurant, but did you know that they also host weddings? With gorgeous views of the James River and city skyline, this venue offers a romantic setting for your ceremony at their Riverfront Lawn. Afterwards, head to their River View Room for your reception. Picture stunning natural light pouring through floor-to-ceiling windows and exposed antique brick walls.

The Overlook at ChildSavers

Another venue with panoramic views of downtown Richmond, this Church Hill venue offers a beautiful outdoor space with the option of a tent rental for your wedding day. An added bonus is that the affordable venue fee is tax-deductible. Richmond's newest wedding and event venue, the lighting during golden hour reflected against the city skyline makes the Overlook ideal for photographing.

Science Museum of Virginia

One of Richmond's most recognizable buildings, the Science Museum of Virginia has a lot of offer if you are looking for an urban take on a wedding space. I suggest having your ceremony and/or reception in the Rotunda. It features an outstanding ten-story dome unlike anything I've ever seen before. This museum is full of impressive architecture and history, which offers a unique backdrop to your big day. The museum also offers an outdoor space, the Garner Pavillion, which sits under the historic train canopies at Broad Street Station.

The Space Downtown

Known for their delicious food and extraordinary service, The Space Downtown is one of Charlottesville's best kept secrets. The venue includes modern styling with an industrial influence. Specialized custom catering makes this the perfect private dining venue for wedding receptions, rehearsal dinners, and cocktail parties.

Quirk Hotel

The Quirk Hotel was blossomed from one of Richmond's most exciting artistic galleries. Between their amazing gallery and rooftop bar, this all-inclusive venue is perfect for the art lover. This boutique hotel is the place to be for your elegant and intimate wedding celebration. Whether you are planning a small or large wedding, the Quirk Hotel is way more than just a venue. It creates authenticly Richmond affairs for your wedding celebration.

Virginia Museum of Fine Arts

Located in the heart of the Fan district in Richmond, the VMFA is the perfect modern and enchanting wonderland to tie the knot. The sculpture garden and lily pond are great photo ops for the bridal party. You can choose between utilizing the main museum, full of timeless beauty and awesome views, or the Pauley Center, which was designed to replicate the White House. Between you and me, I have my eye on the Marble Hall for my wedding reception someday.

Old Metropolitan Hall

This stunningly restored venue located in downtown Charlottesville offers a refined setting for your wedding day. The Old Metropolitan Hall includes a ballroom, bar cellar, and seasonal outdoor patio. There are a number of additional perks for booking this venue, such as custom eight-foot farm tables and warm white copper lights to create an intimate rustic atmosphere.
