Three wedding dresses, two ceremonies, a baraat, and endless henna...yea Priyanka + Chandra's Indian/American fusion wedding was AMAZING. It was filled with color, so much emotion, and unparalleled dancing.
Their wedding day started with the American ceremony, so the first part of the day was pretty typical for us with detail shots, the standard getting ready photos, a first look and portraits. Priyanka's father walked her down the aisle and into Chandra's arms. They said their "I dos," shared their first kiss, and proudly walked up the asile as husband and wife. Instead of heading into their reception to celebrate, they prepared to do it all over again, but this time Indian style.
This time the getting ready photos were filled with sarees, bold red hues, and traditional Indian makeup. Gold jewlery adorned Priyanka's face, hands, and ears while a crown was placed upon her head.
Chandra participated in a baraat, and he and all of his closest friends played music, danced, and sang all the way to the entrance of the ceremony where they met Priyanka's friends and family to be honored. Priyanka was carried into the ceremony on a palanquin to commence their Indian ceremony. This ceremony was filled with ancient traditions, and they were pronounced husband and wife for the second time that day.
I've been to enough Indian weddings at this point to know one thing for certain - Indian's know how to party. The food, dancing, and festivities cannot be matched. In fact, the food was was so delicious that David and I found out who the caterer was and went to his restaurant the next day.
This wedding was an absolute blast and we were so honored to be apart of his a joyful and meaningful celebration. Congrats to Priyanka + Chandra!
