This year we spent our Valentine's day documenting love. We shot two engagement shoots for two amazing couples.
One of the most important aspects about being a portrait photographer is getting people to feel comfortable in front of the camera. Those natural, candid shots with some raw emotion are always the best ones. I'm not a big fan of overly posed photos, so the first few minutes of every shoot are always spent chatting and getting people to relax and enjoy the moment. It usually takes people a little while to warm up to the camera, but these two were naturals right off the bat.
We did a sunrise engagement session with them Valentine's Day morning at Tredegar Iron Works. IT WAS COLD. SO COLD. By the end of the shoot I couldn't feel my fingers, and I was wearing gloves. A lot of people might have let that bitter cold stifle things, but not these two. Instead of complaining they just laughed it off and cuddled together to keep each other warm. They are hands down one of the most fun, loving couples we have ever had the pleasure of working with. They focused on each other and had such a positive attitude throughout the entire shoot. I think their positive energy really translated through into the photos. I love all the smiles and laughter! Hope you enjoy!
