I'm going to be honest. David and I never had engagement photos taken. We have taken engagement photos for so many couples, but we never actually got around to having our own photos taken. Between the two of us we have a pretty hectic work schedule, and engagement photos were one of those things we kept saying we'd do next month...but never actually got around to doing.
Not having engagement photos taken is something I really regret. Once you get engaged, all the focus instantly goes to your wedding and all of the preparations that need to be made. Sometimes it's easy to forget to really celebrate and enjoy your engagement.
Engagement photos are all about celebrating and capturing the love between the two of you at such an exciting point in your life. Those photos are going to become memories you will probably treasure forever. Time is going to fly, and your wedding day will be here before you know it. Make sure you take a breather and remember to celebrate and be thankful for your engagement. Everyone always says you "only get married once," but you also only get engaged once. Enjoy the now, and make sure you celebrate!

You can have engagement photos taken at any point during your engagement. Your friends and family will love them. This really is one of the most special times in your life and people are genuinely excited and happy for you. Getting engaged is a huge deal and people want to share in your happiness. You can send your engagement photos to family members who live far away and might not have met your fiance yet. It's a great way to make everyone feel included. If you get your photos taken early enough, you can have a save the date postcard or magnet made with one of your favorites on it.
