David and I have recently changed up how we do our newborn photo shoots. While some people love the posed photos of newborn babies, it just wasn't for us. Our newborn shoots are about the connection between baby, mommy, and daddy. We strive to capture natural, authentic moments of all of you enjoying your family time that convey a deep sense of love and emotion. We want to capture real moments that document who you are as a family in these first beginning stages.
Taking such natural and intimate photos was an incredibly moving experience. Little Harper is Jessica + Andrew's first child. They have been adjusting to the challenges of parenthood and working to find a new family and life balance. We really wanted to showcase that experience and transition in their lives while incorporating some very personal elements into the shoot.
Curious George is one of Andrew's favorite childhood books, so it was very meaningful to capture Andrew reading it to his baby girl for the first time. We also photographed some of the little details of Harper's baby room. It was designed to showcase Jessica + Andrew's love of the beach, which is without a doubt going to be a big part of their family life. And lastly, Harper's middle name is Janet after Andrew's mother who passed away several years ago. In Harper's bedroom there is a picture honoring her grandmother and namesake, as well as custom pillow saying her grandma angel is always watching over her.
I love how personal this shoot is and am so excited to officially be offering these at home sessions. It is such an amazing thing to document how a family grows over time.
