For the past 7 years, we have spent 80% of our time working from home. And 4 of those years were in an 800 square foot apartment. So we are basically work from home pros at this point!

The work from home lifestyle can be great - I honestly am a huge fan of it. It can also have its drawbacks though.

Here are a few of our best tips for being productive while working from home and how to keep yourself from getting stir crazy!

Create a routine.

Shower and get ready for the day - I repeat - SHOWER! Don't just walk downstairs in your pj's and sit on the couch working until 1pm. Taking a shower wakes you up for the day and gets you in a productive mindset.

Take time to have coffee, eat breakfast, go for a walk or get a workout in.

Make your own workspace.

Make your own work space. If your spouse is working from home, find separate spaces for each of you to work. Listen to music, podcasts, or even play Netflix in the background . Just create the right environment for you.

Don't make your office the same room as your relaxation room at night. It's important that you are able to step away from work at the end of the day and walk into a "work free zone."

Stick to a schedule.

Create a schedule and stick to it. Set clear work hours for yourself. If you decide to end your work day at 5pm, don't check your emails after that.

Limit your distractions.

Try to find a work area where you can seclude yourself a bit. Make sure the members of your family know not to needlessly interrupt you while you are working.

Use earbuds to tune out outside noise.

Do not let yourself be distracted by household chores. Those should not be done during work hours.

Take time away from your workspace

During your lunch break step away from your workspace and eat in a new spot. If the weather is nice, go outside. It's important you take a break and walk away for a few minutes.
