We are huge proponents that your engagement photos should reflect your personality as a couple, so let’s really make this session yours! What are your favorite places? What do you like to do together? Is there anywhere that is meaningful to you? We will help you to choose a location that reflects your personality as a couple so you feel totally in your element during this session. We will guide you through this experience and capture gorgeous photos you will treasure forever.
The best way to reach out is through email. In that email, share with us what package you are most interested in and your overall vision for the shoot.
You can schedule this session at any point during your engagement!
Once we get your session booked, I will send you a new client form to fill out. On that form you will have the opportunity to tell us about yourself, share your vision for the shoot, and any other information you’d like us to know. It also allows you to link a pinterest board with photos that inspire you. It is important to take some time filling this out because it really helps us tailor the shoot to your unique needs.
Payment is due the day of the shoot. The morning of your session we will send you an invoice that can be paid online. You can also bring cash or a check payable to J&D Photo with you to your session.
Anything you wear is going to look great, but here are a few guidelines to consider when choosing outfits for your engagement session.
- Wear something you feel comfortable + confident in. You should feel like your best self!
- Don’t match - Complement. By that I mean, wear colors that go well together but aren’t necessarily the same. EX: Blues, grays, and creams always look great together.
- Avoid heavy patterns. Solid colors tend to photograph best. If one of you will be wearing a pattern, make sure the other wears a solid.
- Stay away from bright whites + neon hues. Solid white shirts tend to look blown out in photos. Neon colors reflect unpleasant hues on faces.
- Dress for your location.
- Think about the season. If you are planning a fall or winter engagement session, don’t be afraid to add in some layers or scarfs to really play up the cozy vibe.
- If you book a package that includes 2 outfits, try to choose 2 very different looks. Often couples do one that is more formal and another that is more casual.
Feel free to bring any props or important items you’d like to incorporate into the session.
We will take some close up shots of your engagement ring, so it is always a good idea to clean it prior to the shoot.
Depending on the location, it can be nice to bring a neutral toned blanket for a few sitting photos.
If you are planning to bring your pup, ask a friend or family member to come along to assist with the dog - and make sure to bring some dog treats or a squeaky toy. And if your dog is a shedder, a lint brush!
It’s also great to bring a hairbrush and lipgloss in case you need to do any touch ups during the shoot.
A glass or wine or beer before your shoot never hurts - especially if you are feeling nervous.
We will capture a mix of posed + candid photos highlighting the special connection between the two of you. David chooses the locations and finds the most gorgeous light. Jada will be the one taking the photos and providing posing guidance and fun prompts throughout the session. We will do a bunch of different things, so you will end up with a really strong mix of photos. At the end of the shoot, we will spend a few minutes photographing your engagement ring
Standard turnaround time on our boudoir shoots is 3 weeks, but if you need them faster than that you can pay a rush fee and receive them as quickly as 24 hours after your shoot.
