The Pressure is Real

J&D has grown by leaps and bounds over the past 4 years. It's been a wild journey filled with some very high highs and some not so fun lows, but it's been exciting every step of the way. Not only has J&D the business grown, but so have Jada + David. When we first started this photo gig, I was fresh out of college, we were newly engaged, we lived in a tiny apartment and edited everything from our laptops. We hardly had any expenses because we lived so frugally and only had the two of us to worry about - and neither of us really cared if that meant we had to eat mac & cheese or peanut butter sandwiches for a while to make this thing work.

Well, fast forward a few years and things look drastically different. We have a studio space, a house, an absurd amount of camera gear, and giant mac computers that we edit all of our photos on. It is still so surreal to me that we have been able to create a life and a business built off of my teenage passion for taking photos. Like really, how did that happen?

But, with growth comes more stress. How do we continue to grow? What's the next step? Do people still like what we do? How do we make sure our clients have the best experience possible? What if this all blows up in our face? And it's s c a r y!

Self-doubt can be deadly, but if we were to have listened to any of that 4 years ago, we wouldn't be where we are today. I'd probably still be sitting in my cubicle working a job that made me miserable. With great risk, comes great reward and fulfilment if you are brave enough to give it a shot.

So if your head is filled with doubt right now, take a beat, tell yourself you got this. And if you're scared, just do it scared. Don't let it stop you. Because the things that lie on the other side of that fear are going to amaze you. And it's definitely worth it.
