The Family Portrait Experience

Our Philosophy:

Why spend an hour doing something when you can do it in 10 minutes? We know that with kids, attention spans are short—so we've designed our sessions to capture all the magic in just 10 minutes. You’ll be amazed at how much we can accomplish in that short time! During that time, David and I are both working together to make the experience seamless. David handles the photography, and I’m right behind him, dancing, shaking jingle bells, and doing whatever it takes to get the kids to smile and look at the camera.

Booking:

You can book your shoot using the calendar on our website, where you’ll be able to view available dates and times. Just select your preferred time-slot and fill out the form to confirm your session.

The Payment

You can pay for your shoot directly from the booking form on the calendar. Payments are due in full at the time of booking to secure your session and are non-refundable. This allows us to provide the best possible experience for you on the day of the shoot.

Front porch sessions happen rain or shine.

If it is raining the day of your family mini session at Byrd Park, we will send you an email with some rescheduling options.

Choosing Outfits

Anything you wear is going to look great, but here are a few guidelines to consider when choosing outfits for your family.

- Family photos with little ones typically involve movement, so make sure to wear clothes everyone feels comfortable + confident in.

- Don’t match - Complement. By that I mean, wear colors that go well together but aren’t necessarily the same. EX: Blues, grays, and creams always look great together.

- Avoid heavy patterns. Solid colors tend to photograph best. If one of you will be wearing a pattern, make sure others in the group wear solids.

- Stay away from bright whites + neon hues. Solid white shirts tend to look blown out in photos. Neon colors reflect unpleasant hues on faces.

Preparing For The Shoot

Plan your outfits ahead of time, so the day of your session you don’t even have to think about what to wear.

If your kids are old enough, give them a run down of what is going to happen before the session so they know what to expect.

Let your kids know that if they do well, they will get a treat after. We have even had parents bring special treats of a gift for the kids to open at the end for good behavior. It can also make for a cute photo op!

Bring a couple of your kids favorite toys or books to keep them engaged during the shoot. Bubbles are fun too!

Bring a large neutral blanket. We can do some cute sitting photos of everyone together.

Pets + littles ones can be alot to juggle. If you are planning to bring your pup, ask a friend or family member to come along to assist with the dog.

The Shoot

Our family sessions are about capturing the magic of your family dynamic. Every family is unique and our goal to highlight the special connection between all of you. During your session, we’ll work quickly and efficiently to capture a variety of poses and candid moments. In just 10 minutes, you’ll have a gallery of images that highlight both the unique bonds in your family and your children’s personalities. You’ll be amazed at the variety of shots and the quality of images from your session.
