The Initial Email

The best way to reach out is through email. In that email, share with us what package you are most interested in and your overall vision for the shoot.

When To Schedule

We recommend scheduling your maternity shoot right around the 7 month mark. You want to have a nice size baby bump but still be feeling great!

The New Client Form

Once we get your session booked, I will send you a new client form to fill out. On that form you will have the opportunity to tell us about yourself, share your vision for the shoot, and any other information you’d like to share. It also allows you to link a pinterest board with photos that inspire you. It is important to take some time filling this out because it really helps us tailor the shoot to your unique needs.

The Payment

When booking a bundle package, payment is due in full at the time of booking. We will send you an invoice that can be paid online.

For all other packages, payment is due the day of the shoot. The morning of your session we will send you an invoice that can be paid online. You can also bring cash or a check payable to J&D Photo with you to your session.

Choosing Outfits

Anything you wear is going to look great, but here are a few guidelines to consider when choosing outfits for your maternity session.

- Wear something that highlights your baby bump. Long flowy dresses or form fitting gowns are always great options!

- Consider shapewear. If you plan to wear a form fitting gown, make sure you choose the right undergarments.

- Wear something you feel comfortable + confident in.

- Don’t match - Complement. By that I mean, wear colors that go well together but aren’t necessarily the same. EX: Blues, grays, and creams always look great together.

- Avoid heavy patterns. Solid colors tend to photograph best. If one of you will be wearing a pattern, make sure the other wears a solid.

- Stay away from bright whites + neon hues. Solid white shirts tend to look blown out in photos. Neon colors reflect unpleasant hues on faces.

Preparing For The Shoot

Feel free to bring any props or important items you’d like to incorporate into the session. Many people like to bring a copy of the ultrasound or a pair of baby shoes to include in the shoot. If you are planning to bring your pup, ask a friend or family member to come along to assist with the dog. It’s also great to bring a hairbrush and lipgloss in case you need to do any touch ups during the shoot.

The Shoot

We will capture a mix of posed + candid photos that show off your baby bump and highlight the love between the two you. We typically take photos of you and your partner together as well as solo shots of the mom-to-be. We will guide you through the poses and give you plenty of guidance throughout the entire session.
